FALL / WINTER  2024-25

Girls teams

Tryouts :

Results will be announced within a week from the last day of tryouts.
We will call the players who made the team and after we close the roster for each team we will send out an email for those who didn’t get selected.

Uniform sizing:

We will have dates and times to visit Northville Stitching Post for uniform sizing. This year we will have new uniforms for all teams. Unfortunately the uniforms we have been using for the past 6 years have been discontinued by the maker.

Season duration:
Official practices will start the week of August 26th.
We participate in the BIG Cat League out of Novi Schools, games are Sundays and the league runs from the last Sunday of September to the second or third week of December.
11 weeks with 2 games per Sunday.
We will also participate in a few Saturday tournaments and we are planning on hosting our own tournament this year.
Your team’s coach will probably run a few practices and participate in tournaments during the summer.

Practice schedule:

Upon forming the teams, each coach will survey the players about scheduling conflicts and will make the practice schedule based on the days the girls are available. On that note, any player is invited to participate in other teams’ practices to compensate for a missed practice. I am a huge fan of multi-sports players and we can work around any scheduling conflict to provide the best experience for all our girls.

After making the team you will receive an email to join Teamsnap. It is an app with all the team’s events, schedules and communication.

Total cost:
This season cost will be $1100.

There are no other fees or add-ons.

We offer sibling discounts.
The payments will be divided into 3 parcels:

June 21st $400

August 16th $350

October 18th $350.
The total fee includes uniforms, insurance, league fees, gym practice time, equipment for practice, photo day and end of the year banquet.

After season plans:
Always Basketball has a non-mandatory winter camp at the end of December. This camp focuses on skills and game-like situations to better prepare the girls for their upcoming middle school season. All grades are welcome to join.
The 7th and 8th grade don’t play travel ball in the months of January to March because of the middle school season.
The 5th and 6th grade teams will have an option to keep practicing and participate in tournaments during those months, with an extra cost, but that will be discussed later in the season.

Program plan and accolades:
Always Basketball is a program that envisions developing players to play at the high school level. We work with the fundamentals of the game while providing fun for the girls to grow into the sport. This is not just a parks and rec program, we care for each individual and the main goal is to help the girls grow into complete basketball players.
After 8 years having teams up to 8th grade, we are proud to say we have former players at various high schools in the area: Northville, Novi, Plymouth Christian Academy, Livonia Stevenson, Livonia Franklin, Livonia Churchill, Saint Catherine of Siena, Father Gabriel Richard, Mercy, Mariam, St. Mary’s Orchard Lake, South Lyon East , Bloomfield Hills, West Bloomfield, Divine Child, Fordson, and Walled Lake all have former Always Basketball players on their teams. Last year Northville High School had 34 players on Freshmen, JV and Varsity. 28 out of those 34 players played for Always Basketball in the past.

“Always Basketball Night” at Northville High School :
Always Basketball has a close relationship with high school coaches, especially with Northville High School. One night we celebrate the “Always Basketball Night” at Northville High School when we go cheer for Northville High School Girls Varsity Team and our current players are invited to visit the locker room pre game, participate in on the court events like High five tunnel and anthem buddies with the high school players.

Multi sports players :
We understand that some players have busy schedules with multi sports, we support this and do our best to work around the scheduling conflicts. Our players have been involved with all sorts of activities in the past. Soccer, volleyball, softball, track and field, fencing, horse back riding, dance, tennis, and the list goes on, but we were always able to adjust and accommodate it.

Extra training :
Always Basketball works together with trainers in the area to provide more opportunities for our players.
Make shots with coach Soukup,

Getskillz with Jamey Petree ,

Impact Sports Performance and others, attend our practices during the season to work with our players and provide extra training for those interested.

UofM women’s basketball night :
We go watch one game in Ann Arbor and the girls can participate on the high five tunnel and anthem buddies with the college team. This is a great event for our program. Last year we took 126 people there, counting players, siblings, friends and parents.
